Batch Reactor

NiTech® Solution’s Batch OBR™ (Oscillatory Baffled Reactor) is fundamentally different to traditional batch stirring technology. This batch system offers a unique way to mix chemicals at bench scale; it delivers greater uniformity and control over the intensity of the mixing. It is suitable for development work in any situation where conventional stirring is used.

Batch OBR™ Features:

  • multi-phase, multi-component mixing system
  • multiple measuring ports
  • excellent heat and mass transfer characteristics
  • sealed system
  • temperature range between -40°C to 200°C
  • mixing density control by varying amplitude frequency
  • wetted parts are borosilicate glass or PTFE
  • 100ml or 250ml reactor vessels (others available upon enquiry)
  • shear control
  • uniform mixing throughout reactor

Batch OBR™ Benefits:

  • faster reaction times
  • improved yields
  • readily scalable
  • shear control: high shear for immiscible liquids and gas liquid; low shear for microbes and crystal growth
  • increase product functionality: different families of size distributions; tight size distributions

Applications:

  • organic synthesis polymerisations: microcapsules; emulsions
  • dye and pigment chemistry
  • pharmaceutical API's
  • hydrogenation
  • solid suspension
  • fermentations

Sectors:

  • pharmaceuticals
  • fine and speciality chemicals
  • food manufacture
  • drinks manufacture
  • paints manufacture
  • consumer products

NiTech's batch OBR™ can be used in place of a classic stirred system, it offers the opportunity to deliver chemistry and technology that is significantly more predictable to scale-up.  The ability to control the intensity of the mixing is critical for controlling physical parameters such as microcapsule size seen above.
