Biotechnology

NiTech Solutions crystallizers and reactors are being used by the biotechnology industry, where the units facilitate enhanced quality, high yields and short process times.

SAS PIVERT, which is a consortium of leading French companies in the agricultural, chemical and food & feed sectors, is using a high-pressure ATEX-compliant DN15 crystallizer/reactor to support its research and development work to industrialise chemical products and energy from oilseed biomass.

The Centre of Excellence for Anaerobic Digestion at the University of South Wales (USW) has also been using a DN60 crystalliser/reactor in a project to evaluate bioconversion for energy production and storage. The project is an early step towards commercialising the C1gas conversion process, which could potentially change the way in which energy is managed on a regional basis as it provides a bridge between electricity and gas grids.

USW has prepared a case study on the project’s results, which have shown that the NiTech Solutions DN60 oscillatory baffled reactor (OBR) has significant advantages compared with liquid recirculation reactors (LRR) and continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTRs).
