Mixing in NiTech reactors is achieved by eddy motions that are generated by the combination of fluid oscillation and the presence of baffles. It is not controlled by net flow as in other flow reactors.
This unique ability to decouple net flow from mixing accommodates longer reaction/process times, e.g. 2 hours. NiTech’s tubular baffled reactor (TBR) technology can be used for reaction times from seconds to a few minutes.
Our technologies are suitable for processes including liquid-liquid, solid-liquid, some gas-liquid, and some gas-liquid-solid processes, e.g. hydrogenation.
The pie chart below illustrates the reaction time distributions for a large number of chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food products.
